How We Got Here

Chaney Nichols formed the record label Esperanza Plantation in Jackson, MS in October of 2002. Over the course of the last decade, Esperanza released records for a wide variety of acts, including Colour Revolt, The Weeks, Chase Pagan and Bear Colony. Esperanza's latest release is the debut album from Little Rock instrumental artist Glass Wands, released March 25, 2014. With his transition to Memphis, Nichols will continue to develop the Esperanza catalog, but plans to shift his primary focus to Misspent Records, working diligently to expose many of the unrepresented artists Memphis has to offer.

Born and raised in Memphis, John Miller moved back to the home of music, BBQ and basketball in 2004.  Since then, he has worked in a variety of capacities with Archer Records, the Memphis Music Foundation, Indie Memphis Film Festival, Shangri-La Records, Music Export Memphis, and with a number of independent artist projects. He believes, Memphis.
